The Lovibond Hypochlorite Test Kit is suitable for the determination of the strength of chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite). Industrial Sodium Hypochlorite leaves the manufacturing facility at 12% to 15% strength. Once manufactured, sodium hypochlorite loses about 1% of its strength per month. The bleach is still effective after several months, but larger amounts will be required to be dosed as the product ages to maintain the same chlorine residual. The Hypochlorite Test Kit can be a useful tool to determine whether there is a problem with the chlorine or if the dosing pump and associated valves are not working optimally.
